I installed the new Cosmic option but it crashes when I try to log into it. Xsession-errors reports:

xhost and xrdb can’t open display. The config directories setup properly and are accessible. I’m sure I’m missing something.

Update: It starts fine from a console login, save for a policy kit error while lightdm is running. Strange :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Update of update: And the policy kit fix listed on install page fixed the problem.

I do have to admit it’s rather pretty, but the icons creep me out. Too much pastel. :wink:

Lightdm or something else as login manager?

I’m using standard butterknife install with lightdm + openbox. I liked the look of cosmic because it looks like a polished version of hyprland. And since you made it look so easy…

Sorry. Too long responding. Regardless, without question the best way to mitigate future login issues is to switch to the cosmic greeter. I have encountered some issues lightdm/cosmic, but the greeter itself works great when more than one DE is installed. I know that seems like a cop-out.
